Core infrastructure sector out put rises 3.4% in June 2010
The Index of Six core industries having a combined weight of 26.7% in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased 3.4% during June 2010 from year earlier. However, this was the lowest pace of growth in last one year since 3.2% growth recorded in July 2010. During April-June 2010-11, the output of the six core industries rose 4.6% as against 4.3% growth during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Crude Oil production (weight of 4.17% in the IIP) increased at five months high pace of 6.8% to 2939 th tonnes in June 2010. The growth of the crude oil production has improved sequentially from 3.5% in March 2010 to 5.2% in April, 5.8% in May and 6.8% in June 2010. The Crude Oil production registered a growth of 5.9% at 8753 th tonnes during April-June 2010-11 compared to (-) 1.3% during the same period of 2009-10.
Petroleum refinery production (weight of 2.00% in the IIP) increased 2.9% to 12556 th tonnes in June 2010 compared to (-) 3.8% in June 2009. The Petroleum refinery production registered a growth of 5.3% at 37563 th tonnes during April-June 2010-11 compared to (-) 4.2% during the same period of 2009-10.
Coal production (weight of 3.2% in the IIP) rose 0.9% to 39.75 million tonnes in June 2010 compared to growth rate of 15.2% in June 2009. Coal production has declined 0.4% 118.83 million tonnes during April-June 2010-11 compared to an increase of 13.0% during the same period of 2009-10.
Electricity generation (weight of 10.17% in the IIP) registered a growth of 3.4% at 65211.4 million Kwh in June 2010 compared to a growth rate of 7.7% in June 2009. Electricity generation grew by 5.6% to 200314.8 million Kwh during April-June 2010-11 compared to 5.8% growth during the same period of 2009-10.
Cement production (weight of 1.99% in the IIP) rose 3.6% to 17690 th tonnes in June 2010 compared to 12.7% growth in June 2009. Cement Production grew by 7.0% to 55240 th tonnes during April-June 2010-11 compared to an increase of 12.1% during the same period of 2009-10.
Finished (carbon) Steel production (weight of 5.13% in the IIP) increased 3.5% to 4729 th tonnes in June 2010 compared to 3.6% growth in June 2009. Finished (carbon) Steel production grew by 3.6% to 14309 th tonnes during April-June 2010-11 compared to an increase of 1.7% during the same period of 2009-10. Powered by Capital Market - Live News
