Currency Futures
We at HDFC Securities are proud to announce the launch of Currency Derivatives
on August 29, 2008. This will be for the first time that even retail investors with
no exposure to foreign exchange will be able to take a call on the rupeeās movement
with the dollar. All these years, trading in foreign exchange was allowed only for
banks and companies having currency exposure.
Indian residents, now, are permitted to trade in currency futures. They would be
allowed to purchase or sell currency futures for hedging their exposure to foreign
exchange rate risk. A currency future is a forex derivatives contract to buy or
sell one currency against another on a specified future date, at a price decided
in the contract.
