Derivative Weekly Expiry Contracts to be Restricted to Benchmark Indices
According to the SEBI circular, starting from November 20, 2024, exchanges will be allowed to offer derivatives contracts with weekly expiries for only one benchmark index. Here’s everything you need to know about this new development :
What’s Changing?
Under the revised rules:
1. NSE will offer weekly expiry options only for the Nifty 50 Index.
2. BSE will continue to offer weekly expiry options for the Sensex Index.
This means several popular indices will no longer have weekly derivatives contracts.
Discontinued Weekly Contracts:
The following indices will no longer have weekly derivatives contracts after their respective last trading dates:

Key Point to Note:
Monthly Expiry Options Remain Unaffected: While weekly contracts for the above indices are being discontinued, monthly expiry contracts for all indices will continue to be available as usual.
